The Castle

The Castle of Maluenda is a fortress built by Muslims in the 9th-10th centuries; it is one of the oldest in Spain and a clear example of a Muslim castle, with an irregular and elongated layout, built on a hill. It stands out for its imposing tower, which guards the entrance to the fortress.

Maluenda has always been a place of cultural exchange. Its origins go back to Roman settlements, it has been Mozarabic, and it has witnessed many historical events. Today, it is a village of 800 inhabitants, with a winery inside, which is now our home.

Maluenda, the land that welcomed us

This wine is a tribute to the people who welcomed us, to a village with a long tradition in viticulture.

After more than 57 years of activity, in 2020, the cooperative was on the verge of ceasing its activities, a sad and significant event in this small village of 800 inhabitants. And here, Mark, the Belgian, a lover of Calatayud and already collaborating with the cooperative, saw it clearly: to take over the cooperative and continue the legacy. The village mayor, Carmen Herrero, stated: "More than the wine, we are happy that life is returning to the village."
