The second edition of the Fiesta de la Vendimia de Raíces Ibéricas is now history. And it has been a story of the kind we like: of territory, of community, of shared wine… and of a very special garnacha that amazes those who try it.
Last Saturday, close to a thousand people came to our winery in Maluenda to experience a day that combined popular celebration, professional programming, and an international perspective that grows vintage after vintage.
A program with two faces (and the same core)
In the morning, the focus was on those who live wine from within: importers, sommeliers, distributors, and specialized press from Spain and other countries such as Poland, Belgium, Chile, and Guatemala. Great professionals who participated in a manual harvest at altitude and a technical tasting of garnachas from around the world led by Ferran Centelles, former sommelier of El Bulli and current head of wines at elBullifoundation.
In the afternoon, we opened the doors to shared enjoyment. The grape stomping contest pitted (in good spirits) four teams against each other: the town of Maluenda, the Raíces Ibéricas team, a Polish delegation, and the guest winery Gallina de Piel, led by David Seijas, who took the victory. How fiercely they competed!
It was also the moment to present the mural created by the artist Artur López, known as 'De Tripas Aerosol', winner of the 2025 Urban Art Contest. His work is now part of the winery’s landscape and adds to the legacy started in the previous edition by the artist Vera Galindo, whose intervention on the tanks has become a visual emblem of the project.
The day ended with the Copacabana concert, a breakthrough indie-pop band, and a wine tasting featuring highlights from our most representative collections: Las Pizarras, Raíces, Equilibrio and Pasión.
Garnacha, town, and projection
The Fiesta de la Vendimia is here to stay. Because it is not just about celebrating the arrival of a new harvest. It is about valuing the work with native varieties, making visible the character of village wines, and showing the potential of areas like Calatayud, where garnacha grows on slate soils and in vineyards that exceed 1,000 meters in altitude.
And we cannot close this summary without thanking the Raíces Ibéricas team, who have been at the forefront of organizing the festival with an unbeatable combination of work, commitment, and heart.
Everything experienced in Maluenda was possible thanks to that collective effort. See you at the next harvest!
