Fabla #506 conquers Wine Spectator's Top 100

25/11/2025

Perhaps Las Pizarras Fabla #506 was born as a wine by the glass. One of those that catch you by the price and the appeal of a garnacha, the one from Calatayud, that you know never fails.

And yes, those are two of its virtues. But they are not the only ones. This has been recognized by the tasting panel of the renowned American publication Wine Spectator, which has included our wine in its Top 100 best wines of the year. Note: there are only eight Spanish wines on that list. One of them, our Fabla.

Our high-altitude garnacha has shone.

The minerality expressed by the soil where it was born, rich in slate, has shone.

And it has also shone with what Wine Spectator calls the X factor: the ability to move.

And Fabla has all of that, and a little more.

A blend with history

Fabla #506 is part of Las Pizarras, our collection of garnachas born in high-altitude vineyards on slate soils, in the DO Calatayud. This wine is a blend of 80% Garnacha Tinta and 20% Syrah, and its name pays homage to tank 506, where it fermented for the first time.

A part of the wine (30%) spends only three months in barrel, so as not to steal the spotlight from the fruit or the character of the terrain. The result? A juicy wine, with aromas of ripe red fruit, plum, fig, pepper, and that touch of slate that makes it unforgettable.

And that peculiar name?

‘Fabla’ is much more than a pretty word. It is a cultural and historical nod: this is the name of the ancestral language spoken in northern Aragón, which still survives in small communities.

Because if something moves us at Raíces Ibéricas, it is precisely that: what remains. What should not disappear.

And this is Las Pizarras Fabla #506: without artifices, without disguises, with everything needed to go far.Like the language that gives it its name.Like the roots that inspire us.
